About Vickie Keam

Equine Osteotherapy & Custom Saddle Maker

20 Years of Building Knowledge. When I was 12 years old, I had a horse named Rembrandt. I spent hours riding him in the wrong saddle and unknowingly I was hurting him. Once I realized his pain, the only option was to ride him bareback. That was the start of a lifelong passion… building knowledge of how and where we can do better for the animals we love so much. When I turned 19 I traveled west to find a custom saddle maker that would teach me how to make saddles. My apprenticeship with Andy Knight lasted 3 years and I then started Rem Saddlery in the fall of 1999. As my saddle repair, and production of leather goods business grew I wanted to get back to my passion of saddle fitting.I took Equine Massage and Bone Alignment courses to help understand the equine body. But, this wasn’t enough! I felt there was something more, something I was missing. I searched to build more knowledge which led me to an intense 3 year course on the equine body and in 2012 I received my certificate in Equine Osteotherapy. This all was still not enough! Once again I am currently upgrading and learning incredible new techniques.

Now, I help horses gain motion and educate owners how to fit and look at saddles, resulting in increased vitality for the animal and better balance for the rider.
